Treemendous Tree Contest

September 24th is National Tree Day, instituted by Tree Canada to honour the beauty, strength, and vital role of trees in our lives.  Our community has been built on, in, and close to trees, from First Nations to Forestry workers to Farmers to tree-filled neighbourhoods, we all love our trees.

Now the Creston Valley Climate Action Society is inviting residents of Creston Valley to participate in a contest to find the “Best Tree” in the Valley!  It could be the biggest, the rarest, the oddest, the oldest.  It could be the tree you climbed in as a child, complete with a treehouse.  It could be the tree that your grandmother planted 100 years ago.  It could be the tree that you were married under or want to be buried under! Or it could be the amazing tree you found on a hike in the mountains surrounding the valley.

To enter the contest, you will take a picture of your “Treemendous Tree” and write a short piece explaining why it deserves to be chosen as this year’s most amazing tree.  Submissions must be in by September 1st, and the winner will be chosen by the public during the Fall Fair on September 5th and 6th.

The winner will be announced on National Tree Day, September 24th and the winning “Treemendous Tree” will be featured in the Advance.

Submit your photo and write-up by email to the CVCAS email address: crestonclimateactionsociety@gmail.com

Start now!  Go into the forest or your backyard and immortalize that “Treemendous Tree”, then explain what it means to you.

All ages can enter!
