In the Fall of 2021, CVCAS member Caroline Collier began researching the possibility of designing and planting pollinator gardens in the Creston area. She aligned herself with the Suzuki Foundation for guidance. She began networking with Native Plant seed growers.
In March 2022 she began, with her own volunteers, to plant a native seed pollinator garden at Spectrum Farm. That garden is now maturing and offering good enticement to many pollinators.
In May 2023 the Town approached Caroline and invited her to design and plant a Pollinator Garden in the old reservoir/new Park site on Crawford Hill. That project is still in the design phase.
Caroline has offered many informational sessions in the community about native plant seed collections, and the many benefits to the environment of establishing pollinator gardens. She gave a public presentation for the public at the Creston Library for Earth Day 2024.
Caroline encourages anyone interested in learning more about, or taking part in developing, pollinator gardens in the community to contact her. The project would benefit from having more volunteers.
