About Creston Valley Climate Action

About Us

History

The Creston Climate Action Society started in early 2019 as a group of citizens concerned about the impacts of climate change, including the shortage of water, unpredictable winters temperature, low snowpack, worsening drought conditions, and increasing occurrence of wildfires and smoke all of which were being felt in the Valley.

The group met monthly with 25 to 50 active people focused on projects they were passionate about such as Idle Free Creston, 100 % Renewable Kootenays, Recycling, Reduction of Single Use Plastics, letter writing to government and more.

In February 2020 the group became a non-profit society with a volunteer board of directors.

In 2024, the Society was renamed Creston Valley Climate Action Society to reflect the inclusion of the rural areas.
